17th October we had 9 volunteers from the Royal Bank of Scotland with Chris from The Conservation Volunteers. They built 2 compost heaps, repositioned our gate post, moved some number one over the drive way and cut down some leylandii. Great effort and thanks to all.

Emilie Wadsworth from Central Scotland Forest Trust will be running a woodland walk session in our woodland at Garden for Life on Wednesday 23rd October at 3pm.
If you would like to come please email our Woodland Team at mailto:[email protected] After the excesses and successes of last week we are back to a near normal calendar this week. Our usual Open Sessions will be running Monday, Wednesday and Friday 12.30 til 3 pm. Rural Connect are hoping to pop down on Wednesday for a cuppa and wander round.
Thursday we have 10 volunteers from the Royal Bank of Scotland coming down with The Conservation Volunteers. These are really enjoyable days and worth popping in for either part or all of the day,10 til 4 pm. DUE TO THE ELECTRICIANS BEING ON SITE ON MONDAY MORNING THE AFTERNOON OPEN SESSION WILL START AT 1PM As I say we are putting together a woodland management team. TO allow this to happen we have arranged a Tree identification afternoon with Emilie Wadsworth, from Central Scotland Forest Trust on either the afternoon of the 16th or 23rd October. Please fill in the doodle poll if you want to join us:http://doodle.com/na9sw9v6fbtvcyv4 The second training opportunity is a course over three days looking at defining and mapping our woodland then deciding what we want to use the woodland for, planning how to do this and deciding on a vision for the future. We are providing this training free to our volunteers but will need to ask for a commitment to help with the woodland management over the coming years, as this course is being funded by Foundation Scotland. If you would like to join us and the team please fill in the Doodle Poll below:http://doodle.com/4rk7nkwtcrpmxyv8

Judith and George went into HMP Edinburgh to collect some refurbished tools. These are from a work project among the women of the prison and is currently the only one in Scotland. Our thanks to Jim Shields and the Tool Shed team, they will be put to good use. Our thanks to Carol and Dave from Hasties for coming down last night to price up the installation of ours second hand wood burning stove.
Our thanks to Graeme and Shaun from Graeme Higgs Plumbing and Heating for doing the final fix on our plumbing. We now have not only the working toilet but also a working kitchen sink. All with plastic pipe work. Brilliant. |
