This is the wood cut and stored by yesterday's Green Gym, and ready for our wood burner being put it.
This morning we collected chairs, bins and signs donated by West Calder Community Education Centre. Thank you, again, very much for all your help.
Next meeting Wednesday 2nd October 10am.
This morning's meeting looked at the recent successes of The Garden with the building progressing well towards being ready for our Money Week Event on 11th October. We also started looking forward to the Christmas Fair in the Square which we understand is planned for Saturday 7th December. This is the new window fitted last week by Roy and Donald. It has opened up the kitchen area massively and let's in loads of light. A job really well done guys. Thanks also to Morag and Derry for sourcing the new glass units. There has also been a lot of digging going on. The first bed has been dug over again and is over ready for planting and the Chicken Tractor. I am working on both of these as have Mark and Philipa. The second bed is part weeded. Again really great work. Today the Green Gym identified the need for wood stores to store wood for use in the wood burner when it arrives. We therefore built two stores to fit round a couple of old pallets we were given by West Calder Community Centre. Nice work. Next GreenGym Open session Wednesday 12.30 - 3 pm. Trade for Lifemeeting Wednesday 10.30am. All down at the Garden. On Wednesday we had a great visit from a local over 50's Environmental Group. They had a great time walking round the garden in lovely Autumn sunshine seeing all the changing colours of autumn. If you would like to come and visit us please contact us all we ask for is a donation towards teas and coffees. Chicken TractorAs you can see we have been getting the younger generation involved in painting the chicken tractor ready for our feathered girls to start work. Men at workWe have now started work on getting the building back into some sort of working shape. This is the removal of plywood to allow for the first window replacement with protective mesh. This has increased the light into the building massively. The Explorer Scouts were also down this week starting work on repairing the damaged toilet wall. We also no know where the water can be turned off to isolate the site allowing for repair of the other water appliances and for switching off the water when we are off site. An update and to confirm next weeks Open sessions. They will run from 12.30 to 3pm on Monday, Wednesday and Friday. All welcome.
There will be a variety of activities as always including clearing areas, planting winter crops and preparing the Shed for the forth coming Volunteer Day and Money Week Activities. Monday 23rd the Garden will be open 12.30 till 3 pm. We now have electricity to the main box and hopefully with the help of our electrician's at Servu we will have an electrical safety certificate allowing us to use the electrics in the near future. Timings for next weeks open sessions are Wednesday and Friday 12.30 - 3pm. If you want to come down at other times please let us know.
